Commentary: Notes on the cover read “Fin[ished] Decr. 19, 1792,” and “Preached<br />

in St Paul’s, B[altimore] A M, Decr. 30, 1792. Xt Church & St Paul’s, [Baltimore]<br />

Decr. 28, 1800. St Paul’s & Xt Ch, [Baltimore] Dec. 25, 1808.” As this sermon was<br />

preached only on Sundays, it appears that no services—or none with sermons—<br />

were held on Christmas Day during that period. The sermon ends with an<br />

exhortation to partake <strong>of</strong> communion.<br />
