Commentary: Some pages of the sermon are torn out but seem to have been torn
out of the booklet before the sermon was written. There is no obvious break in the
text, although terminal quotation marks are missing and writing is visible on the
remains of the torn out pages. Evans gives Pattillo’s date of birth as 1726.
