be recorded in the parish register. The cover is worn and almost separated at the<br />

hinge, but there is no loss <strong>of</strong> text. Since Bend was a Federalist and was opposed to<br />

the War <strong>of</strong> 1812, it is especially significant that this sermon emphasizing peace was<br />

preached in 1812.<br />
