partake of Communion. Certain passages were bracketed by Bend, presumably
for shortening the sermon at a subsequent delivery. The last page of the sermon
contains a list of baptisms to be recorded in the parish register.

This is the second of three sermons on education. The first of these sermons is
missing, and the third was completed in March of 1797. See accession number
2105. As in many of Bend’s sermons, class distinctions are taken for granted in this
sermon. This and subsequent sermons are written on larger paper (6 1/4 X 7 3/4
