The last page <strong>of</strong> the sermon contains a list <strong>of</strong> baptisms to be recorded in the parish<br />

register. Bend did not insert quotation marks at the beginning <strong>of</strong> the biblical text,<br />

though he did insert them at the end <strong>of</strong> the quote.<br />

March, 1796.] Xt Ch & St Paul’s, [Baltimore] Ap. 21, [18]05.” The upper right-hand<br />

corner <strong>of</strong> the cover has been torn away, eliminating the date <strong>of</strong> composition. The<br />

upper right-hand corner <strong>of</strong> page 1 is also missing, removing “ge” from “general<br />

on page 2. Many words and phrases <strong>of</strong> the sermon were underlined by Bend for<br />

emphasis in delivery.<br />
