Commentary: The Rev. Plunkett was born in England and came to Maryland in<br />

1791. He was the first president <strong>of</strong> Georgetown College and served from 1791 to<br />

1793. He was not a Jesuit because <strong>of</strong> the suppression in 1773.<br />
