partake <strong>of</strong> communion. Bend’s former insistence on physical resurrection appears<br />

somewhat modified in this sermon, which speaks <strong>of</strong> mystery and the spiritual body.<br />

This seems to be the first <strong>of</strong> Bend’s sermons to contain a disparagement <strong>of</strong> the role<br />

<strong>of</strong> reason in religion.<br />
