Commentary: Notes on the sermon read “Scr[ipsit] Feb 7, 1786,” and “Preached at<br />

Richmond, Aug. 19, 1787. In St Paul’s, B[altimore] A M. Octr. 5, 1794.” Although<br />

some pages <strong>of</strong> the sermon are dog-eared and loose, the text <strong>of</strong> the sermon remains<br />

intact. The chief aim <strong>of</strong> the sermon seems to be its condemnation <strong>of</strong> duelling (p. 18-28).<br />

[18]12.” Bend noted on the cover that this sermon was for “Epiphany-Season.”<br />

Though the year <strong>of</strong> composition is clearly indicated on the cover, this sermon has<br />

been filed in the MdDA with sermons composed in 1792.<br />

missing, and the front cover is detached. Pages 24, 25, the first 6 lines <strong>of</strong> 26, and 5<br />

lines <strong>of</strong> 27 are crossed out. This section is on consolation <strong>of</strong> grief.<br />
