Additionally, a high rate of top listedblogs serves interpersonal ends.Text analysis reveals the prevalence of formal style, with ahigh rate of both cognitive and social words, and self-referencemarkers. Authors tend to express their point of view on variouspublic and social issues, and posts reflect their approval or discontentwith certain topics, which unsurprisingly leads to a substantialuse of emotion words. Men use more active and resolutelanguage compared to women’s tendency for passive and accommodatinglanguage, which is consistent with previous theories ongender and language use. 15 Moreover, the visual content balancesthe written one, most of the posts being backed by images orvideos.ConclusionsThere is no doubt that computer-mediated communicationand the Internet have radically changed and revalued all traditionalforms of communication. New communication technologiesallow the on-going connection to the global network bymeans of a plethora of hi-tech devices such as computers, Smartphones,or Ipads.
