Abstract
The aim of this project is to highlight some of the possibilities Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) offer to support interaction processes in distance
learning. It is especially aimed at Italian mother-tongue students who are learning
Spanish. This research follows from the writers’ experience as Language Experts at the
University of Trieste, with students who are proficient in Italian. It has led to the
development of a pre-intermediate learning module (with reference to the Common
European Framework of Reference for Languages) called “From Erasmus to Spain”. The
objective is for students to learn to deal with everyday issues and apply what they have
learnt in real-life contexts. To achieve this objective, we suggest students develop a
webquest and write a guide-book for those who are going to spend a one-year period of
study in Spain.
We follow the structure proposed by Bernie Dodge, professor at San Diego University:
tasks, process, resources, evaluation and conclusion. The learning module will be
created by students using the webquest. This will allow them to enhance their ability to
retrieve and manage information from the web; moreover they will be able to analyze
their native language and, by using online resources, investigate similarities and
differences with Spanish.
