Abstract
In October 2010 the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano has adopted a new language
policy. As one the very few multilingual universities in Europe all degree courses at the
Bachelor and most of the Master’s courses are taught in three different languages of
tuition. Lectures are held in English as well as in German and in Italian. Obviously a
good command of all three languages on both the lecturers' and the students' side is
needed. The basic requirement of the new language policy is a B2 in two out of three
languages at the beginning of the studies but the University Council has also defined
exit levels for all degree courses. The article tries to give an outline of the advantages,
the challenges and the critical issues of this policy.
1. Le linee guida su Plurilinguismo e
certificazioni linguistiche
Nell’ottobre del 2010 il Consiglio della Libera Università di Bolzano (LUB) ha
deciso di adottare nuove linee guida in merito al plurilinguismo di q uesto
ateneo. La delibera (n. 50/2010) ha prodotto effetti importanti sia per gli
studenti, sia per il Centro linguistico e le cinque facoltà. L’obiettivo primario
di questo contributo è di a nalizzare la politica linguistica della LUB. In tal
modo verranno messi in evidenza i p unti di f orza e le criticità di questo
modello ambizioso ed innovativo.
Le linee guida definiscono al punto 1 l’impostazione plurilingue della Libera
Università di Bolzano, che è “secondo il suo Statuto, un’istituzione plurilingue
la cui offerta didattica è orientata in tal senso. L’orientamento sistematico
