Früher eine reine Weiterbildungsinstitution, hat sich die ifs internationale
filmschule köln mit dem Start der Filmausbildung 2002 zu einer
renommierten Aus- und Weiterbildungseinrichtung für den Filmnachwuchs
entwickelt.
Der 3-jährige Studiengang Film folgt einem innovativen Konzept und
bietet den Abschluss Bachelor of Arts für die Schwerpunkte Drehbuch,
Filmregie und Kreativ Produzieren. In der Verbindung von
künstlerischer Vision und einem ausgeprägten Interesse an der Wirklichkeit
können sich die Studierenden ausprobieren und ihre Geschichten
vor der Kamera zum Leben erwecken. Dabei ist uns die
Weiterentwicklung und Festigung der künstlerischen Persönlichkeit
wichtig.
Gute Filme sind Erzählungen vom Leben – sowohl im Spiel- wie im
Dokumentarfilm. Deshalb lehren wir an der ifs gleichberechtigt neben
der Fiktion die dokumentarische Arbeit. Wesentlich ist dabei der Einblick
in gesellschaftliche Zusammenhänge, eine geschulte Wahrnehmung
und der Anspruch, die Wirklichkeit in ihrer Vielschichtigkeit zu
verstehen. Kleine Studentenzahlen und eine intensive Betreuung
bestimmen das Konzept der ifs ebenso wie eine enge Vernetzung in
einzelnen Projekten zwischen dem Studiengang, der Ausbildung
Sound Design und den zahlreichen Weiterbildungsprogrammen. Die
internationale Dozentenauswahl und der Kontakt zu Filmschulen weltweit
bieten darüber hinaus die Möglichkeit globaler Kooperationen.
With the start of the Film Studies Program in 2002, the ifs internationale
filmschule köln transformed itself from a mere further education
school to a renowned education and further education institution serving
young aspiring filmmakers.
The 3-year Film Studies Program follows an innovative concept and
offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with a specialization in Screenwriting,
Film Directing and Creative Producing. Through a synthesis
of artistic vision and a distinctive interest in reality, students can experiment
and bring their stories to life in front of the camera. It is important
for us in this process that the artistic personality be further
developed, strengthened and solidified.
Good films are stories about and from life – in feature films as well as
in documentaries. For this reason we place equal significance on teaching
documentary as well as fictional work at the ifs. An intrinsic
element thereby is to convey an insight into social contexts and relationships,
a trained perception, and an aspiration to comprehend reality
in all its complexity and diversity. Small groups of students and an
intensive supervision are the principles upon which the concept of
the ifs is based on, in addition to a close collaboration on each project
between the Film Studies program, the Sound Design program and the
several other further education programs. Furthermore, the international
choice of lecturers, and the contact to other film schools
worldwide offer the possibilities for global cooperation.
