»Amarcord«, »mi recordo«, »ich erinnere mich« – Ein Norweger
durchstreift Italien, das Land seiner Kindheit, auf der Suche nach
einem Platz im Leben.
Michela aus Rimini wünscht sich Kinder, aber wer weiß schon,
was die Zukunft bringt? Römische Bauarbeiter hoffen im Lotto auf
das große Los. Eine allein erziehende Mamma aus Napoli kocht
Pasta und philosophiert über das Dilemma von Mann und Frau.
Kleine Hoffnungen, große Sehnsüchte. Und immer wieder ein Café
an der Bar, der wunderbare Duft frisch gerösteter Bohnen.
Was macht Dich glücklich? Vor was hast Du Angst? Wie könnte
Dein Leben aussehen? Ein poetisches Roadmovie – und eine Liebeserklärung
an Bella Italia!
A man, after leaving his family of a wife and two children, crashes
his plane into a skyscraper in Milan. What could have driven him
to this? On the pier in Rimini, a woman has dreams of children, but
no longer has faith in love. A mother of two in Naples debates
whether women’s liberation has destroyed the bond between them
and men.
We follow a Norwegian man on a road trip through an Italian landscape
characterised by disillusionment and shattered dreams. He
is retracing the trail from his childhood, on a quest for love and
happiness. The director provides us with an intimate and perceptive
portrait of Italians and their culture, of their food, football and
coffee. His feeling for women is reminiscent of classic Fellini and
contributes to this poetic road movie about hope, passion and
what to do when life doesn’t take us where we want to go – but
also about truly appreciating the Italian art of a great cup of
freshly ground coffee.
Regie CARL E. JOHANNESSEN, geb. 1963, studierte an der Norwegian
Film School in Lillehammer und arbeitet als Autor, Cutter und
Regisseur u.a. für das Filmkollektiv Bergen. Man Woman Coffee ist
sein erster langer Dokumentarfilm.
