Ryuta Imafuku, born 1955 in<br />

and politics are widely recognized.<br />

He is known as one of the pioneering<br />

a creolized vision of culture. His<br />

recent activities include the “archipelago<br />

university” project in the Amami/<br />

Ryukyus Islands, and collaborations<br />

on books and exhibitions with<br />

photographers Shomei Tomatsu<br />

and Sebastião Salgado, the poet<br />

Gozo Yoshimasu, and the film-maker<br />

Trinh T. Minh-ha to name a few.<br />

He is the author of The Heterology<br />

of Culture, Technology of the Wild,<br />

Sensory Angels, Elsewhere: Toward<br />

the Corridor of Images, among others.<br />

He teaches Latin American Studies<br />

and Media Studies at Sapporo<br />

University, and is a permanent visiting<br />

professor of Communication and<br />

Semiotics at the Catholic University<br />

of São Paulo, Brazil.<br />

Krystyna Wilkoszewska is professor<br />

of philosophy and aesthetics at<br />

Jagiellonian University in Krakow,<br />

Poland. She is the author of several<br />

books about contemporary art,<br />

postmodernism and cross-cultural<br />

aesthetics. As editor of the series<br />

Aesthetics in the World she published<br />

the book Japanese Aesthetics<br />

Anthology (2003), that deals with<br />

the issues of haiku, No theatre, tea<br />

art, architecture and urbanisation.<br />

Yoko Tawada was born in 1960 in<br />

Tokyo/JPN, since 1982 she lives in<br />

Hamburg. Writings in German and<br />

Japanese language. 1993 literature<br />

prize Akutagawa-Shô, 1996 Adelbertvon-Chamisso<br />

prize, 2003 Tanizaki<br />
