11. Latin Seminary. The work of the seminary for 1899-1900<br />

will consist of a textual and exegetical study of the Stichus of Plautus<br />

combined with the more rapid reading of twelve selected plays of<br />

Plautus.<br />

The object of the seminary is to familiarize its members with the<br />

methods and habits of independent investigation. The work, there<br />

fore, so far as possible, is thrown into the hands of the students them<br />

selves. The seminary is open to graduates. Students intending to<br />

take these courses should confer with the instructor before Commence<br />

ment, that the necessary books may be ordered from abroad in due<br />

season. The textual and exegetical work will come T. , 4-5:30,<br />

counting as two hours. The reading will come Saturday at 10. Greek<br />

and Latin Seminary. Professor Bennett.<br />

12. History, Aim, and Scope of Classical Studies, with<br />

especial reference to Latin. This course will present the history of<br />

classical study, particularly since the Renaissance, will outline the<br />

various fields of investigation, stating the present state of knowledge<br />

in each along with the chief problems still awaiting solution, and will<br />

give a very full bibliography. First half year. Open to graduates.<br />
