SIBLEY COLLEGE.<br />

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION.<br />

The following subjects are required for admission ; English, Physi<br />

ology and Hygiene, History, [the student must offer two of the four<br />

following divisions in History: (a) American; (b) English; (c)<br />

Grecian; (d) Roman;] Plane Geometry, Elementary Algebra. See<br />

pages 33-36.<br />

In addition to the above primary entrance subjects, the applicant<br />

must offer as below :<br />

1. In Solid Geometry, Advanced Algebra, and in Plane and Spheri<br />

cal Trigonometry as much as is contained in the standard American<br />

and English text-books See page 45.<br />

2. In Advanced French or Advanced German (German preferred)<br />

as given on pages 38 and 39.<br />

3. The applicant must have presented a Regents'<br />

diploma (page 49)<br />

or a certificate (page 50) of graduation from an approved school.<br />

Otherwise he must, in addition to the requirements mentioned in 1<br />

and 2, pass examinations or present acceptable certificates represent<br />

ative of an amount of work equivalent to three years time in a single<br />

subject in preparatory schools of approved standing.*<br />

For the above work a free choice among the various subjects taught<br />

in the preparatory schools of approved standing, and not otherwise<br />

counted, will usually be accepted ; at the same time, combinations of<br />

the following subjects are recommended as most suitable for entrance<br />

to the courses in Sibley College : The Alternate Modern Language,<br />

Free-Hand Drawing, Physics, Chemistry.<br />

For admission to the freshman class, communication should be ad<br />

dressed to the Registrar. See pages 33-52.<br />

For admission to advanced standing from other colleges and Uni<br />

versities communication should be addressed to the Director or the<br />

Secretary of Sibley College. See pages 52 and 53.<br />

For admission to graduate work and candidacy for advanced<br />

degrees, communication should be addressed to the Dean of the Uni<br />

versity Faculty. See pages 64-72.}<br />

*This additional requirement is equivalent to 12 counts on the Regents'<br />

scale in<br />

the State of New York.
