appointed annually by the President of the <strong>University</strong>, to that com<br />

petitor who shall be deemed by them the most effective debater,<br />

account being taken both of his thought and of its expression.<br />

6. Any undergraduate who has already taken the prize may be<br />

selected by the <strong>University</strong> Faculty as an additional speaker, but may<br />

not be awarded the prize.<br />

The Alumnae Scholarship is an undergraduate scholarship of<br />

f 100 for the present <strong>University</strong> year,<br />

and a like sum for each year<br />

hereafter so long as the sum is raised by the Associate Alumnge by<br />

annual subscription. The scholarship is to be given under the follow<br />

ing<br />

conditions :<br />

1. It shall be awarded to a self-supporting woman who has already<br />

spent at least one year in the <strong>University</strong> as a student.<br />

2. The basis of award shall be excellence of scholarship as shown<br />

by the <strong>University</strong> records, and a need of financial aid.<br />

3. The nomination for the scholarship shall be made by a committee<br />

of the Alumnae, who, after consultation with the Dean of the Univer<br />

sity Faculty and the Registrar as to the standing of the applicants,<br />

shall decide as to which one of them will be most benefitted by the<br />

financial aid of the scholarship.<br />

4. The approval of said nomination by the President of the Univer<br />

sity shall constitute an appointment.<br />

The College of Law Thesis Prize. A fund of two thousand<br />

dollars has been given by a friend of the College, the income of which<br />

is devoted each year, under the direction of the Law Faculty, either<br />

for prizes for graduating theses or for printing theses of special merit,<br />

or for both such purposes. The way in which the income is to be<br />

applied is determined each year upon the presentation of theses. All<br />

theses submitted for this prize must be delivered to the Secretary on<br />

or before May 1st. See under College of Law.
