ASSOCIATE ALUMNI.<br />

By the charter of the <strong>University</strong> the graduates are entitled to elect<br />

two of the Board of Trustees each year. At a meeting called for the<br />

purpose, and held on Wednesday, June 26, 1872, the day preceding<br />

the Annual Commencement, representatives of all the classes that<br />

had graduated being present, the following organization was effected :<br />

ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION AS ADOPTED JUNE 26, 1872,<br />

AND AFTERWARDS AMENDED.<br />

I. The Alumni of <strong>Cornell</strong> <strong>University</strong> hereby constitute themselves<br />

an association to be known by the name of the Associate Alumni of<br />

<strong>Cornell</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

II. The object of this association is declared to be to promote in<br />

every proper way the interest of the <strong>University</strong>, and to foster among<br />

the graduates a sentiment of regard for each other and attachment to<br />

their Alma Mater.<br />

III. All graduates of this <strong>University</strong>, who, by their diplomas are<br />

entitled electors of the <strong>University</strong>, are members of this association.<br />

All members of the Faculty of this <strong>University</strong> are honorary members<br />

of this association.<br />

IV. The officers of this association shall consist of ( 1 ) a president ;<br />

vice-presidents to be elected as follows : one vice-president from<br />

the classes numbered from '69 to '74 inclusive, and one from each suc<br />

ceeding group of five classes, provided that when the last group shall<br />

number three classes it shall thereafter be entitled to a vice-president ;<br />

(3) a corresponding secretary ; (4) a recording secretary ; (5) a treas<br />

urer.<br />

V. This association shall meet annually on the day preceding Com<br />

mencement, at such hour as the executive committee shall determine.<br />

VI. Any proposition to alter or amend these articles of association<br />

must be made at a regular meeting and have the assent of two-thirds<br />

of the members present.<br />

By an amendment to the charter of the <strong>University</strong>, passed May 15,<br />

1883, permitting members of the Alumni, not present in person, to<br />

vote by written ballot at the annual election of Trustees, the Treasurer<br />
