MECHANICAL DRAWING AND DESIGNING.<br />

A. Mechanical and Architectural Drawing. Use of instru<br />

ments, geometrical problems, orthographic projection, inking and<br />

tinting, shading and shade lines, lettering, isometrical drawing,<br />

working drawings and conventions. Sibley, 303. Mr. J. S. Reid.<br />

B. Elementary Designing. Problems in machine drawing and<br />

designing. Three hours except daily Saturday. Sibley, 303. Mr. J.<br />

S. Reid.<br />

C. Kinematic Drawing and Machine Design, including special<br />

course in locomotive design. Three hours daily except Saturday.<br />

Sibley, 303. Mr. J. S. Reid.<br />

These courses can be arranged to suit individual needs ; they are<br />

especially suitable for teachers of manual training.<br />

Course A is designed for beginners or those who desire to obtain<br />

a more perfect knowledge of approved methods in modern practice.<br />

In course B the principles, methods, and conventions of course A<br />

are applied to the drawing and designing of general machine and<br />

engine details and small machines.<br />

Many<br />

valuable samples and models of machines and details of<br />

machines and engines are used to illustrate the problems in this course.<br />

Course C consists of problems in irregular curves, cams, gears,<br />

chamber wheels, chain wheels, linkages and original designing of<br />

complete machines and locomotive details.<br />

MECHANIC ARTS.<br />

A. Shopwork. Woodworking ; use of tools ; carpentry ; joinery ;<br />

pattern-making ; turning.<br />

B. Shopwork. Blacksmithing ; use of tools, forging, welding,<br />

tool-dressing, etc.<br />

C. Shopwork. Foundry work : moulding, casting, mixing metals,<br />

brass work, etc.<br />

D. Shopwork. Machinist wTork : use of hand and machine tools ;<br />

working to form and to gauge ; finishing ; construction ; assemblage;<br />

erection.<br />

Each of the above courses, three hours. Daily as assigned, 8-1,<br />

2-5. Messrs, Wiseman, Wood, Vanderhoee, Granger.<br />

NATURE-STUDY.<br />

[Because of lack of room, it will be necessary to limit the<br />

attendance in Nature Study courses. Names will be registered<br />

in the order of application to COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE,<br />

ITHACA, N.Y.]
