REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION.<br />

The following subjects are required for admission : English, Phys<br />

iology and Hygiene, History, [the student must offer two of the four<br />

following divisions in History: (a) American, (b) English, (c) Gre<br />

cian, (d) Roman], Plane Geometry, Elementary Algebra.<br />

In addition to the above primary entrance subjects, the applicant<br />

must offer as below :<br />

i. In Solid Geometry, Advanced Algebra, and in Plane and<br />

Spherical Trigonometry,<br />

American and English text-books. See page 46.<br />

as much as is contained in the standard<br />

2. In Advanced French or Advanced German (French pre<br />

ferred)<br />

as given on pages 38 and 39.<br />

3. The applicant must present a Regents'<br />

diploma (see page 50), or<br />

a certificate of graduation from an approved school (see page 51).<br />

Otherwise he must, in addition to the requirements mentioned in 1 and<br />

2, pass examinations or present acceptable certificates representative of<br />

an amount of work equivalent to three years time in a single subject<br />

in preparatory schools of approved standing.* This additional require<br />

ment is equivalent to 12 counts on the Regents'<br />

scale in the State of<br />

New York.<br />

For the above work a free choice among the various subjects not<br />

otherwise counted, that are taught in the preparatory schools of<br />

approved standing, will usually be accepted ; while at the same time,<br />
