Thus where a Chilian, resident in Great Britain, purchased guns and<br />

ammunition here and sent them to a foreign neutral port to be there placed<br />

on board a ship which was to take part in the war between Chili and Peru<br />

—both States being friendly with Great Britain—it was held that he had<br />

committed an offence under section 11, for. he knew that the guns and<br />

ammunition were to be used in the war against Peru. 1 Again, where an<br />

expedition is fitted out in the British dominions, any British subject who<br />

assists in the preparation of the expedition from a place outside the British<br />

dominions, or joins it after it has entered the territory of a foreign State<br />

that is at peace with Great Britain, is guilty of an offence under section ll. 8<br />
