<strong>the</strong> global on <strong>the</strong> local is a reality. As seen in chapters <strong>the</strong>e and five, global<br />

Pentecostalism has had a great impact on local Pentecostalism along with <strong>the</strong><br />

internal as well as external issues facing Pentecostals, and also <strong>the</strong> Spirit<br />

experiences have played an important role in <strong>the</strong>ir mission <strong>the</strong>ology and practice.<br />

This new model can serve as a viable alternative in <strong>the</strong> light <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> present<br />

globalized Pentecostal context. It takes into consideration global influences, and at<br />

<strong>the</strong> same time it is faithful to <strong>the</strong> local context as well. Contextual <strong>missiology</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> kind I am proposing in this present study is a <strong>contextual</strong> <strong>missiology</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Spirit. It is not to argue that all o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>contextual</strong> models should be discarded, but<br />

ra<strong>the</strong>r to propose this <strong>missiology</strong> as ano<strong>the</strong>r significant model alongside o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>contextual</strong> models. This model seems to be more flexible as it is sensitive to <strong>the</strong><br />

particular cultural or local situation on <strong>the</strong> one hand, and to <strong>the</strong> national or global<br />

situation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> movement on <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r, and at <strong>the</strong> same time it takes <strong>the</strong><br />

experiences <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spirit seriously.<br />

This new model tries to expand <strong>the</strong> horizons <strong>of</strong> <strong>contextual</strong> <strong>missiology</strong>, and to<br />

introduce a <strong>missiology</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spirit moving beyond a simple discussion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Spirit and His works as mere topics, to a <strong>contextual</strong> <strong>missiology</strong> from <strong>the</strong><br />

perspective <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Spirit. In <strong>the</strong>ir discussion <strong>of</strong> ‘Contemporary Currents in<br />

Missiology,’ Jongeneel and Engelen deal with missiologies ‘from above’ and<br />

‘from below.’ By ‘missiologies from above’ <strong>the</strong>y mean <strong>the</strong> ‘classic,’ or<br />

‘traditional’ mission <strong>the</strong>ory that seeks <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bible as well as church<br />

tradition. By ‘missiologies from below’ <strong>the</strong>y mean modern mission approaches<br />
