Conclusions - The results of this study indicate that the presence of Dictyotales and high canopy algal forms are elective requirements for the choice of nesting site in S. ocellatus. The other variables seem not to have a significant role maybe because the samplings is not sufficient to explain a preference. This first analysis shows that the algal species at high canopy may provide protection to the nest. Further investigations will determine if this protection is related to a lower visibility of the nest by predators or if these erect algae have a role in the mitigation of wave-motion.
