The V1 core (Fig. 2) is characterized by at least three continuous levels of dead matte<br />

of P. oceanica: 14 C datations have been coupled with relative sea level and bottom<br />

position obtained for the same area by Carobene et al. (2008) throughout the Holocene,<br />

allowing to reconstruct the millennial evolution of a section of P. oceanica meadow.<br />

The monetary value of P. oceanica has been summarized in Tab.3 and compared with<br />

a previous evaluation by Blasi (2009).<br />

Conclusions - Three main conclusions can be drawn on the short-term and long-term<br />

evolution of P. oceanica in the study area and on its economical value trough time.
