voluntary but all the States are encouraged<br />

to implement it.<br />

Aims at providing a fully illustrated field<br />

guide for the identification of the sharks and<br />

rays most relevant to the fisheries of the<br />

Mediterranean<br />

A technical framework was created by<br />

Italian shark specialists for the development<br />

of the Italian Action Plan for the<br />

conservation and management of Sharks.<br />

The Mediterranean Action Plan for the<br />

Conservation of Chondrichthyan Fishes<br />

constitutes a proposal for regional strategies,<br />

pointing out priorities and actions to be<br />

undertaken at national and regional levels.<br />

Aimed to the assessment of the<br />

Mediterranean elasmobranches species for<br />

the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.<br />
