more than one third of the students taught by part-time teachers. In terms<br />

of teaching assignments, 47 percent of students, internationally on average,<br />

were taught by the same teacher for all or most subjects, while 36 percent<br />

were taught by specialist teachers for core subjects. T<strong>here</strong> were few countries<br />

w<strong>here</strong>, almost exclusively, students were taught by the same teacher for all<br />

or most subjects (the Russian Federation with 97% of students <strong>and</strong> Iran with<br />

90%) or almost exclusively taught by a specialist teacher for core subjects<br />

(Denmark with 97% of students <strong>and</strong> Hong Kong SAR with 91%). One fourth<br />

or more of the students in the Netherl<strong>and</strong>s, Norway, <strong>and</strong> Sweden had<br />

teachers who shared teaching responsibilities with another teacher, but this<br />

was relatively rare (10% of students), internationally on average.<br />
