<strong>Orange</strong> is present in Jordan through its Jordan<br />

<strong>Tele<strong>com</strong></strong>munications Company subsidiary, 51% owned by<br />

<strong>France</strong> <strong>Tele<strong>com</strong></strong>. Jordan <strong>Tele<strong>com</strong></strong>munications Company<br />

(network and fi xed-line services) and its subsidiaries Petra<br />

Jordanian Communications Company (network and mobile<br />

services) and Jordan Data Company (Internet services) are<br />

housed within the Jordan <strong>Tele<strong>com</strong></strong> Group and have been<br />

offering all their services under the <strong>Orange</strong> Jordan brand since<br />

September 2007.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> had a mobile subscriber base of 1.9 million as of end<br />

<strong>2009</strong>, an increase of 20.6% <strong>com</strong>pared with 2008. Growth in the<br />

mobile base was ac<strong>com</strong>panied by a 1.9% decline in ARPU due<br />

to price cuts. Promotional offers were made throughout <strong>2009</strong> to<br />

limit the impact of the economic downturn.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> had 135,000 Internet customers as of end <strong>2009</strong>, a<br />

robust +32.4% increase <strong>com</strong>pared with 2008. <strong>Orange</strong> has<br />

65% of the broadband market (S ource: <strong>Orange</strong> Jordan). It<br />

is continuing to roll out a full range of Internet services using<br />

ADSL and WiFi technologies, and is targeting a wide variety of<br />

customers.<br />

The number of fi xed lines continued to decline, falling by -3.7%<br />

in <strong>2009</strong> due to the expansion of the mobile market. However,<br />

the decline in fi xed-line revenues has slowed thanks to growth<br />

in broadband Internet revenues.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> Jordan offers a diversifi ed range of fi xed, mobile and<br />

Internet services in the home and business markets. Innovation<br />

is at the heart of <strong>Orange</strong>’s offers and marketing strategy in<br />

Jordan, which has been benefi ting since March 2008 from the<br />

skill of a <strong>France</strong> <strong>Tele<strong>com</strong></strong> Group Technocentre in Amman.<br />
