Launch of the Business Sense tariff to help <strong>com</strong>panies get the best from their mobiles during the recession.<br />

At the same time <strong>Orange</strong> launched the Phone Fund which gives customers 10% of the amount of their top ups<br />

on their prepaid phone back towards the cost of their next phone.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> joined forces with Barclaycard to offer a mobile payment service with mobile telephones.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> UK and HMV reached an agreement to develop the “stores within stores” concept consisting in implanting<br />

an <strong>Orange</strong> store in 15 HMV branches. If successful, the concept will be rolled out in other branches.<br />

Launch of Bright Top-Ups for prepaid customers, giving them the chance to win a prize each time they top up<br />

the credit on their mobile.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong>’s mobile broadband network was voted the most reliable in the UK according to a YouGov study.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> UK launched the UK’s first £5 per month mobile plan, as well as new £10 and £15 plans to support<br />

UK customers during the recession.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> UK announced plans to create a joint venture with T-Mobile to form the UK’s largest mobile operator.<br />

Approval is being sought from the relevant <strong>com</strong>petition authorities.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> UK launched Super Fast BroadBand (SFBB) with download speeds of up to 20 Mbps at no extra cost.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> UK was also voted best network by readers of What Mobile magazine.<br />

The fi nal agreements relating to the merger in the United Kingdom of <strong>Orange</strong> UK and T-Mobile UK are signed.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> UK launched the iPhone, breaking the exclusivity deal held by O2 UK with Apple on the device.<br />

Outlook<br />

In 2010, <strong>Orange</strong> UK will focus on:<br />

■ C ontinuing to pursue the strategy defi ned during 2008<br />

to progress towards be<strong>com</strong>ing the most popular<br />

tele<strong>com</strong>munications brand in the UK and to create long-term<br />

business value.<br />

■ Strengthening the basics through a program of cost reduction<br />

and effi ciency improvements whilst maintaining a dynamic<br />

and motivated workforce within <strong>Orange</strong>.<br />

■ Reshaping the <strong>com</strong>petitive position of distribution by favoring<br />

direct distribution channels and longer customer <strong>com</strong>mitment<br />

periods, generating foundations for future growth.<br />

■ Creating value by strengthening customer relationships,<br />

offering simpler, more benefi cial, innovative and quality offers<br />

and to continue to revitalize and enhance the <strong>Orange</strong> brand.<br />
