<strong>Orange</strong> Labs Network<br />

In order to achieve its ambitions in innovation, the <strong>Orange</strong><br />

Labs network brings together specialized employees on<br />

four continents. Each <strong>Orange</strong> Lab is immersed in a specifi c<br />

environment that enables it to anticipate and take advantage<br />

of technological breakthroughs and changes in user patterns<br />

worldwide and to facilitate partnerships, thereby accelerating<br />

the Group’s capacity for innovation. The creation of <strong>Orange</strong><br />

Labs, whose objective is to improve the selection of innovations<br />

developed by the Group and to reduce the timeframe for<br />

bringing them to market, was awarded the “Prize for Innovation<br />

in Innovation Management” in 2008, as part of the Trophies<br />

for Innovation Management awarded by L’Expansion and<br />

Bearing Point.<br />

<strong>Orange</strong> Labs currently has four Technocentre platforms, located<br />

in <strong>France</strong>, the United Kingdom, Poland and Jordan. Their<br />

objective is to design and market new products and services<br />

in the countries where they are located and to share them<br />

within the Group in other countries where the Group is present.<br />

The network is also made up of research and development<br />

laboratories located in 8 countries worldwide: <strong>France</strong>, United<br />

Kingdom, United States, China, Japan, Poland, Spain and<br />

Egypt.<br />

In <strong>2009</strong>, after a review of the business portfolio, the <strong>Orange</strong> Labs<br />

network was rescaled, including the closure of the Explocentre<br />

and <strong>Orange</strong> Labs in Boston and Korea.<br />

Partnerships<br />

The Group has an active policy of forming strategic partnerships<br />

with leading industrial players which allows it to quickly enhance<br />

its portfolio of products and services.<br />

Medium-term bilateral partnerships with U.S., European<br />

and Asian <strong>com</strong>panies allow the Group to better anticipate<br />

forth<strong>com</strong>ing technological developments in areas such as home<br />

automation, healthcare and the environment.<br />

Partnerships have also been concluded with universities and<br />

academic institutions (such as the Institut Télé<strong>com</strong>, CNRS,<br />
