Session Overview:
During the past 50 years, private practitioners have witnessed
many substantial changes to the US health care system
and have been pressured to change the way they practice
medicine. What can be done to return the locus of control to
rheumatology practices and ensure adequate compensation
for work? Rheumatologists will have to redesign their practices
to optimize efficiency and show that they can not only deliver
superb care but also lower the total cost of health care. The
“ideal medical practice” model can move us closer to this goal.
Rheumatologists need to know what it takes to manage a
practice in today’s financially challenged economy. To reach the
ideal practice, physicians can learn from each other better than
any text book.
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:
• identify practical strategies that can be incorporated into a
rheumatology practice for efficiency
