by the Within Our Reach campaign providing insight into the
pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
As this research has yielded dramatic results that will impact
patient care, early exposure is vital to quickly move these
discoveries from laboratory to the bedside.
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:
• distinguish the role of repeat polymorphisms in the
pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis
• identify the role of periodontal disease as a factor in the
pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis
• describe how naturally occurring antibodies may prevent the
development of inflammatory conditions
