Current state of <strong>the</strong> art: crashes and injuries<br />

road users indicates how often <strong>the</strong>y are involved in crashes of a certain<br />

severity regardless of <strong>the</strong> severity of <strong>the</strong>ir own injuries. The vulnerability of a<br />

group of road users indicates what <strong>the</strong>ir average injury severity is when <strong>the</strong>y<br />

collide with a particular force against ano<strong>the</strong>r vehicle or obstacle.<br />
