The risk of being injured as a result of a road crash is, except for the youngest
age group, larger for women than for men (Figure 1.7). The risk of being
killed as a result of a road crash is larger for men (Figure 1.8). The only
exception is the group of 65‐74 year old women. The cause of this exception
lies possibly in a different start of the ageing process for men and women, as
a result of which women are more vulnerable at an earlier age. One can
