Intersection design and the older driver
to Intold and 11 to Intyoung. The general characteristics of these intersections are
summarized in Table 5.1. As the various branches of an intersection do not
give the same view of the intersection, and the drivers who were involved in
crashes have not necessarily approached the intersection from the same
branch, the characteristics of the intersections are described at the level of the
branch. For each intersection, the number of entries is equal to the number of
branches from which a driver could have approached the intersection. This
results in 45 entries for Intold and 38 entries for Intyoung. Differences between
frequencies for Intold and Intyoung that were tested for significance are printed
in bold.
