must be adapted to the nature of works that will be conducted there. Surface<br />
and <strong>vol</strong>ume of the workplace must be sufficient for the employee so that he<br />
can perform his own work without impeding circulation in the environment.<br />
Walls, floors, ceilings should be frequently cleaned to ensure cleanliness of<br />
the environment and prevent any risks of infection. Walls and ceilings<br />
should be checked periodically to eliminate and replace parts that pose risk<br />
to life and health of the employees.<br />
The Council of Ministers or a body under its authorization determines the<br />
permissible limits for protection from air pollution, chemical classes,<br />
radioactivity, noise and vibrancy in the workplace. To avoid contamination<br />
from powders, in Article 49 it is provided that the work environment should<br />
have a ventilation system. Special devices that do not allow complete<br />
deviation of the production of harmful polluting materials to human health<br />
and body, must be used during the work processes.<br />
If the intensity of the noise and the vibrancy in the work environment is<br />
too high every measure must be taken by the employer in order for the noise<br />
level, to be compatible with the health of employees through relevant<br />
depreciation or reduction at their very origin.<br />
In accordance with the provisions on the use of insecure machinery and<br />
equipment in the workplace, no employee should use the machine without<br />
preliminary taking all necessary protective measures. Dangerous parts of<br />
machinery must be equipped with protective devices.<br />
Code of Labor pays particular attention to the maintenance of the<br />
working tools. Under these provisions the employer must be careful that<br />
repair, maintenance and control of machinery be made only after the<br />
vehicles have stopped. In detail, the provisions of the Code of Labor regulate<br />
the working conditions. If the work is such that the employee must stay<br />
seated, he is made available a suitable working chair. If the performance of<br />
work requires a standing position, breaks no less than 20 minutes every 4<br />
continuous working hours, should be provided. For pregnant women, it is<br />
provided that breakings are made every 3 hours.<br />
If an employee needs to carry cargo during his work (as amended by Law<br />
No 9125 dated 29.7.2003) he should not carry a load greater than 55 kg. The<br />
employer is obliged to make available to employees all the necessary tools<br />
that facilitate carrying of the load. For women, the permissible load is up to<br />
20 kg. Following the recent changes to the Law No 9125 in 2003,<br />
