allele frequency and mitochondria sequence analyses; the genetic<br />

structure of wild populations; development of software for DNA<br />

genotyping and implementation of electronic data interchange for<br />

reporting of laboratory results. VGL is also involved in high profile<br />

criminal cases both nationally and internationally through their<br />

The Veterinary Medicine Teaching and Research Center (VMTRC)<br />

is a clinical teaching and research center within the <strong>UC</strong> <strong>Davis</strong><br />

School of Veterinary Medicine. The center offers a forum for teaching,<br />

research and service programs for D.V.M. students, M.P.V.M.<br />

students, graduate students, residents, university faculty and visiting<br />

researchers interested in food animal production and agroecosystem<br />

health. VMTRC programs emphasize herd health medicine,<br />

epidemiology and preventive medicine, production management,<br />

agricultural economics, environmental protection, food safety/<br />

defense, animal health and well-being, and renewable energy.<br />

The X-Ray Crystallographic Facility, located in the Department of<br />

Chemistry, provides crystal structure determinations for researchers.<br />

Single crystals from all branches of chemistry are studied. The<br />

facility is equipped with two X-ray diffractometers, a Bruker<br />

SMART1000 and a Siemens P4 equipped with a rotating Cu anode<br />

source and possesses a stereo-microscope. Access to a Bruker<br />

ApexII diffractometer is also available. All instruments possess<br />

variable low temperature systems. Consultation and collaboration<br />

on a variety of single crystal related projects can be arranged.
