IM 201 Programming for Artists (4 SH)<br />

This course will focus on programming for art applications.<br />

The course will explore creative and experimental<br />

algorithms to create visual, audio or physical structures.<br />

Students will be able to have more control over their digital<br />

media and computer graphics’ processes.<br />

IM 207 Digital Photography and Imaging (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall and Spring<br />

The course Digital Photography and Imaging serves as an<br />

introduction to the world of digital photography and computer<br />

graphics and as a prerequisite for future photography<br />

and computer graphic classes in general. This software<br />

program used is the industry standard for all digital image<br />

manipulation and editing and is an important tool that the<br />

students should be comfortable with both a photography<br />

or computer graphics related field. Cross-listed as AT 207.<br />

IM 230 2D & 3D Animation (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall even years<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): AT 110<br />

This course will serve as an introduction to the world of<br />

2D and 3D computer-generated graphics with a focus on<br />

drawing, modeling and animation. Form visualization principles<br />

practiced in the fields of design, drawing and digital<br />

sculpture will be covered including basic approaches to<br />

model surfacing, lighting and presentation. The course will<br />

then progress to the basic principles of timing and motion<br />

through the production of two and three-dimensional<br />

computer-generated animation. The course will prepare<br />

you for work ranging from instructional animations to<br />

entertainment media including feature films and video<br />

games. Cross listed as AT 230.<br />

IM 231 Video Editing and DVD Authoring (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Spring odd years<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): IM 207<br />

This course is an introduction to video editing using industry<br />

standard software. The entire workflow will be covered<br />

from planning a video shoot, filming the shoot and then<br />

editing the footage, including adding special effects. This<br />

course will prepare you for work in making commercials,<br />

web video, broadcast, entertainment films and/or art<br />

films. In addition, the process of authoring your video on<br />

an Interactive DVD will be covered. Cross listed as AT 231.<br />

IM 250/350/450 Internship in Integrated Media (1-5 SH)<br />

Students are required to complete 75 hours of work for<br />

each credit hour registered and earned. An Internship<br />

Application must be completed and filed with the Office<br />

of Career Services and Internships.<br />

IM 301 New Media Art: Robotic Art (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Spring odd 4th year<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): AT 103 or AT 114<br />

This studio course will explore electronic techniques, new<br />

media sculptures, experimental computer graphics and<br />

current media in the field. This course will progress with the<br />

use of a programmable micro-controller for development<br />

of interactive artworks, kinetic sculpture, sound works,<br />

light art and performance environments. Input sensors<br />

like infrared, ultrasonic and limit switches will be used with<br />

output devices like servo-motors, DC motors, speakers,<br />

relays and power transistors. Slide lectures, video and web<br />

sources will allow the evolution of artistic and conceptual<br />

approaches to the development of interactive art and<br />

environments.<br />

IM 310 Video Game Production (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Spring even years<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): IM 207, AT 110<br />

This course is an introduction to video game design and<br />

production on the computer. The class will focus on the<br />

theory of game design and animation and will work towards<br />

creating a 2D game that can be a narrative journey, educational<br />

(serious games), and/or puzzle. Programmers, artists,<br />

musicians, writers, dancers, performers are encouraged to<br />

learn how their skills apply to this growing field. The course<br />

will focus on the development pipeline for game creation,<br />

innovative game play and production values.<br />

IM 311 Instructional Technologies/Serious Games (4 SH)<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): IM 207<br />

This course is an introduction to creating instructional<br />

modules for web-based and CD-based interactive teaching.<br />

The class will cover effective instructional media and animation<br />

and will work towards creating a 2D interactive module<br />

that can be a linear instructional animation, an interactive<br />

educational game, or a simulation. Topics can span all<br />

majors and may include animating biological processes,<br />

simulating a micro economy or creating an educational<br />

equine learning video game. The course will focus on the<br />

development pipeline for asset creation, engaging media<br />

and production values.<br />

IM 330 Web Design, Production and Interactive Art (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall odd years<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): AT 102, IM 207<br />

This course will focus on web design, production and<br />

interactive art within the realm of the World Wide Web.<br />

The course will explore the Internet as a medium for art,<br />

as a space for advertisement and commercial applications<br />

AND as a location to deliver information while utilizing the<br />

artistic possibilities of HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and<br />

Flash. Cross listed as AT 330.<br />
