permission of instructor
This course will explore the basic principles of biology
involving interactions between nutrients (i.e., macronutrients,
micronutrients and trace elements) and the various
physiological processes that occur in the human body; the
implications of these interactions on human health will be
emphasized.
BI 231 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
(3 SH)
Semester Offered: Fall of Even Years
This course will provide an introduction to the fundamentals
of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology
and how it is applied in environmental planning, health
care, natural resource management and formal ecological
research. Students will learn the methods by which geographic
information is collected, organized, analyzed
and presented. A series of lab exercises will illustrate the
typical steps necessary to complete a GIS project and will
culminate with the students carrying out and evaluating
