CI 101 Computers and Information Processing (2 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall and Spring<br />

Basic applications of computers and their role in modern<br />

society. Introduction to computer hardware and software<br />

for word processing, database management, spreadsheets,<br />

graphics and communications. Weekly laboratory exercises<br />

at the personal computer using an integrated software<br />

package.<br />

Courses in topics of special interest to faculty members<br />

CI 200 Business Computer Applications (2 SH)<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): CI 101<br />

Advanced study of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access<br />

application software. Emphasis will be on utilization of<br />

the software to solve a wide range of specific business<br />

problems and develop strategic and operational management<br />

solutions.<br />

CI 341 Management Information Systems (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall and Spring<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): CI 101<br />

A managerial overview of information systems. The course<br />

is an introduction that focuses on the technical aspects<br />

of information systems from a managerial perspective.<br />

Topics include managing and developing information<br />

systems, managing telecommunications and networks, the<br />

strategic role of IS, managing data resources, the internet<br />

and e-business, managing knowledge, the information<br />

technology infrastructure, hardware and software issues<br />

in IT and IS security.<br />

CI 343 Database Management (4 SH)<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): CI 200<br />

Topics include the database development process, the<br />

entity relationship model, object oriented modeling,<br />

logical and physical design, SQL, database development<br />

and database administration. Hands-on laboratory work<br />

will include learning a database development software<br />

environment. A group project in database development is<br />

a required component of the course.<br />
