AM 320 Fine Arts Management Practicum II (1-4 SH)<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permission<br />
Students will participate in the preparation necessary to<br />
present artistic events on campus. Projects could include<br />
the organization, promotion and mounting of an exhibition,<br />
the booking and promotion of concerts, theater or dance<br />
events or other appropriate arts activities. Students must<br />
contract with appropriate faculty for 50 hours of application<br />
work per academic credit. A maximum of eight credits<br />
possible over junior and senior years.<br />
AM 450 Fine Arts Management Internship (1-4 SH)<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permission<br />
Placement in area not-for-profit arts organizations. Students<br />
must contract with appropriate arts administrator for<br />
50 hours of internship application per academic credit. A<br />
maximum of eight credits possible. Students are required to<br />
complete 75 hours of work for each credit hour registered<br />
and earned. An Internship Application must be completed<br />
and filed with the Office of Career Services and Internships.<br />

A foundation course providing a working understanding<br />
of basic two-dimensional design principles in black and<br />
white and color, with emphasis on formal elements and<br />
principles of art.<br />
AT 103 Dimensional Design (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Spring odd years<br />
This course is a foundation class which provides a working<br />
understanding of three-dimensional design principles with<br />
an emphasis on formal elements and principles of threedimensional<br />
art. Students are also introduced to materials<br />
and techniques of three-dimensional processes.<br />
AT 104 Experiencing the Visual Arts (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Fall and Spring<br />
An introduction to the basic elements and forms of visual<br />
art in both theory and practice. Students will analyze a<br />
variety of forms representing both historical and contemporary<br />
periods. The course includes a studio element in<br />
which students will complete several projects.<br />

Semester Offered: Fall<br />
A course teaching and strengthening the many skills needed<br />
to make a drawing: observational skills, comparison skills,<br />
hand skills, conceptual and creative skills.<br />

A study of the basic concepts and techniques of sculpture.<br />

Recently students have completed special topics in life<br />
drawing, watercolor and monotype printing.<br />
AT 202 Painting I (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Spring odd years<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): AT 110<br />
The basic techniques of painting are emphasized: stretching<br />
and priming canvas, work with paints and media, color. Students<br />
will work on improving their drawing, compositional<br />
and conceptual skills.<br />
AT 205 Ceramics I (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Fall and Spring<br />
A study of basic techniques, including hand building<br />
techniques, an introduction to the potter’s wheel, glazing<br />
and decoration.<br />
AT 206 Photography I (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Fall odd years<br />
A study of black and white photography, including the use<br />
of a 35mm camera, with emphasis on darkroom techniques<br />
and building compositional skills.<br />
AT 207 Digital Photography and Imaging (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Fall and Spring<br />
The course serves as an introduction to the world of digital<br />
photography and computer graphics, and as a prerequisite<br />
for future photography and computer graphic classes in<br />
general. This software program used is the industry standard<br />
for all digital image manipulation and editing, and is<br />
an important tool that the students should be comfortable<br />
with both a photography or computer graphics related field.<br />

Semester Offered: Spring<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): AT 110<br />
A continuation of AT 110, with review and practice of basic<br />
skills of drawing and their application to stronger, more<br />
complete drawings. New drawing techniques and media<br />
will be presented with emphasis on a thoughtful approach<br />
to drawing.<br />
