Degree Awarded: Bachelor of Arts<br />
The major in history prepares students for employment in<br />
many areas, including government, state and federal, in<br />
the fields of civil service and diplomacy, among others, in<br />
business for those companies with international markets<br />
and in museums, archival repositories, libraries, historical<br />
societies in media, as well as several other fields. Secondary<br />
education students planning to teach history and other<br />
social studies fields also benefit from a concentration<br />
in history as a content area. Students with a degree in<br />
history frequently go on to graduate school, whether<br />
for history, law, political science, international studies or<br />
multi-disciplinary studies.<br />
Requirements for the Major:<br />
48 semester credits including:<br />
• HI 105 American History I: Colonial Times to 1877<br />
(4 SH)<br />
• HI 106 American History II: 1877 to the Present (4 SH)<br />
• HI 400 Historical Research Methodology/Historiography<br />
(4 SH)<br />
• HI 420 Senior Thesis in History (4 SH)<br />
and History Group 1 - eight semester credits from the<br />
following:<br />
• HI 120 World History I: Antiquity to 1400 (4 SH)<br />
• HI 121 World History II: 1400 to 1815 (4 SH)<br />
• HI 122 World History III: 1815 to the Present (4 SH)<br />
• HI 132 Western Civilization I: Beginnings to 1600 (4 SH)<br />

Human Resource Management<br />
Degree Awarded: Bachelor of Science<br />
The human resource management major is designed to<br />
give students in-depth exposure to specific areas of human<br />
resource management and organizational behavior compared<br />
to the more broad-based business administration<br />
major. The program builds on a foundation of business<br />
courses with a set of courses focused on supervision,<br />
leadership and change management; human resource<br />
administration, labor relations and the dynamics of human<br />
behavior in organizations. The program also offers excellent<br />
preparation for admission to graduate school. Students are<br />
encouraged to take advantage of the internship program in<br />
order to obtain actual work experience prior to graduation.<br />
