AT 404 Senior Project in Visual Art (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall<br />

An intense, year-long, primarily self-motivated period<br />

of studio work, monitored by the art faculty. These two<br />

courses will serve as the B.F.A. candidacy sequence,<br />

culminating in the B.F.A. exhibition. Both courses must be<br />

taken in order to receive credit.<br />

Semester Offered: Spring<br />

BA 115 Financial Literacy for Life (2 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall odd years<br />

The course teaches students how to become better<br />

spenders, savers and wise users of credit. It discusses<br />

the difference between assets and liabilities and how the<br />

wealthy invest in assets and either avoid liabilities or find<br />

ways of having others pay for their liabilities. Topics include<br />

the importance of personal budgeting, the dangers of debt<br />

accumulation and an introduction to different retirement<br />

savings/investment options.<br />

Independent study of topics not offered as regular courses.<br />

Administration (2-4 SH)<br />

Courses in topics of special interest to faculty members<br />

and students are offered from time to time. For complete<br />

course descriptions, students are directed to the schedule<br />

of classes, available in the Registrar’s Office.<br />

BA 201 Business Communication (4 SH)<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): EN 101<br />

This course provides students with the means to develop<br />

effective communication strategies and techniques and to<br />

apply them to the solution of management problems in<br />

the form of written reports, memoranda, letters and oral<br />

presentations. Cross-listed as CM 202.<br />

BA 215 Investing in Your Future I (2 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: fall odd years<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): Sophomore status<br />

The course teaches students how to research, analyze and<br />

determine when it is the right time to purchase stocks and<br />

which stocks to purchase. The students in the course will be<br />

using real money. Since money is always a scare resource,<br />

students will have to decide which stocks provide the<br />

probability of earning the greatest return. This course will<br />

be taught so it is understandable to ordinary investors so<br />

that students from all disciplines/majors may participate.<br />

BA 216 Investing in Your Future II (2 SH)<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): BA 215<br />

The course is a continuation of BA215. Students will be<br />

tracking the performance of their investments and making<br />

buy and/or sell recommendations.<br />

BA 250/350/450 Internship in Business Administration<br />

(1-5 SH)<br />

Internships are academic courses that take place in<br />

professional work settings and call for the application<br />

of concepts learned in the classroom. Students gain onthe-job<br />

experience under supervision by working directly<br />

with a professional manager in a business or not-for-profit<br />

organization. Students are required to complete 75 hours<br />

of work for each credit hour registered and earned. An<br />

Internship Application must be completed and filed with<br />

the Office of Career Services and Internships.<br />

BA 324 International Business (4 SH)<br />

Semester Offered: Fall and Spring<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): EC 200<br />

This course is concerned with management, marketing<br />

and financial practices of organizations operating in the<br />

international environment. Comparisons are made of<br />

variations in these business practices between different<br />

countries and at different levels of national economic<br />

development. Emphasis is on rapidly emerging multinational<br />

corporations.<br />

BA 360 Individual Investigation in Business (1-5 SH)<br />

Students study topics of interest not offered as regular<br />

courses.<br />
