All users have space on a network server called their Z drive. This is the recommended place for users to store documents<br />

and files. The amount of materials stored on a user’s Z Drive may not exceed 250 megabytes unless approved<br />

by the I.T. department. MP3 files and video files may not be stored on a user’s Z drive. System Administrators reserve<br />

the right to delete these files without notice along with any files that were obtained or used in a violation of the law.<br />

The user account that exceeds the size limit not be allowed to save any more files to their drive until data is deleted.<br />

Users who do not return to <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> during the next school semester or have graduated will continue to have<br />

access to their email, documents and account for no more than 60 days. After that time all data, including the student<br />

user account will be removed from the system.<br />

Dating Violence<br />

The term “dating violence” is defined by <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong>, in accordance with the State of Ohio, “…violence committed<br />

by a person who is or has been in a social relationship of a romantic or intimate nature with the victim; and where the<br />

existence of such a relationship shall be determined based on a consideration of the following factors:<br />

• The length of the relationship.<br />

• The type of relationship.<br />

• The frequency of interaction between the persons involved in the relationship.”<br />

Dating Violence is sometimes also call Intimate Partner Violence. The abuse can take a variety of forms such as isolation<br />

of the partner, displaying a self-destructive behavior, physical, sexual, psychological or emotional, and economic abuse.<br />

Dating Violence can range in severity from an occasional slap to repeated hitting<br />

Dating violence of any sort is not acceptable behavior at <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> and is a violation of the <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

Statement of Civility and may be also a violation of other policies set forth in the student handbook. Dating violence or<br />

other infractions as a result of dating violence or intimate partner violence will be handled through the campus judicial<br />

system. Any disciplinary action on behalf of the college has no impact of any criminal procedures brought forth as a<br />

result of the dating or intimate partner violence.<br />

The victim of dating violence shouldn’t have to endure the abusive relationship and <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> offers assistance<br />

in dealing with or helping to find solutions to the dating or intimate partner violence. In many case the abusive partner<br />

also needs help in dealing with their emotional issues, however, help or assistance cannot be offered until the violence<br />

has been brought to the attention of someone of authority.<br />

Dating Violence and any other abusive relationship should be reported to:<br />

Domestic Violence<br />

Domestic Violence is defined as “… any violent or controlling behavior by a person toward a spouse or partner and can<br />

include a dating relationship.” For the purposes of this policy, domestic violence includes, but is not limited to; any<br />

felony or misdemeanor crimes of violence committed by a current or former spouse of the victim, by a person with<br />

whom the victim shares a child in common, by a person who is cohabitating with or has cohabitated with the victim<br />

as a spouse, by a person similarly situated to a spouse of the victim under the domestic or family violence laws of the<br />

jurisdiction receiving grant monies, or by any other person against an adult or youth victim who is protected from that<br />

person’s acts under the domestic or family violence laws of the jurisdiction.<br />

Domestic violence can adversely affect the well-being and productivity of students who are victims, as well as others<br />

around them. Other effects of domestic violence in the campus environment include increased absenteeism, failing<br />

grades and mental stress.<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> will not tolerate domestic violence on campus and is committed to working with students who are<br />

victims or perpetrators of domestic violence to prevent abuse and harassment from occurring on campus.<br />

<strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong> will provide appropriate support and assistance to students who are victims of domestic violence.<br />

This includes: confidential means for coming forward for help, resource and referral information. Other appropriate<br />

assistance will be provided based on individual need.<br />

Students who are perpetrators of domestic violence will be encouraged to seek assistance. The Campus Security, Student<br />

Life Office and Dr. Spiesman in the Student Success Center may be able provide information or direction concerning<br />

resources available in the surrounding community to both the victim and perpetrator.<br />
