AC 303 Taxes & Culture Clinic I (2 or 4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Spring<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): Sophomore status or permission of<br />
instructor<br />
An interdisciplinary course covering basic income tax and<br />
immigration law and the Hispanic culture. Students gain<br />
a fundamental understanding of federal, state and city<br />
income tax law for low-income taxpayers. Students gain<br />
a first hand knowledge of basic immigration law and how<br />
undocumented United States workers are handled through<br />
our system. It is a clinic course relying heavily on student<br />
participation. Cross-listed as LG 303.<br />
AC 308 Federal Income Taxes I (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Fall odd years<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): AC 102 or permission of instructor.<br />
Encompasses the study and research of the federal income<br />
tax laws. Focus is on the determination of taxable income<br />
of individuals. Topics include gross income, inclusions of<br />
taxable income and exclusions, deductions and losses,<br />
exemptions, credits and property transactions.<br />
AC 309 Federal Income Taxes II (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Spring even 4th year<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): AC 308 or permission of instructor.<br />
Encompasses the study and research of the federal income<br />
tax laws. Focus is on the determination of taxable income<br />
of corporations, partnerships, trusts and estates.<br />
AC 322 Cost Accounting (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Spring even years<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): AC 102<br />
This course emphasizes cost accounting methods used to<br />
determine product costs for internal decision-making and<br />
external financial reporting. Topics include variable, fixed<br />
and semi-variable costs, activity-based costing, job order<br />
costing, process costing, standard costing, break-even<br />
analysis, budgeting, quality control, inventory management,<br />
pricing special orders and transfer pricing.<br />
AC 403 Auditing (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Fall<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): AC 302, CI 101, MN 215 or permission<br />
of instructor<br />
The principles, concepts, standards and procedures utilized<br />
by internal auditors and the independent public accountant.<br />
Topics include professional ethics, independence and<br />
legal responsibility, statistical sampling, auditing standards<br />
and procedures.<br />

AC 416 Advanced Accounting (4 SH)<br />

Pre-Requisite(s): AC 301 or permission of instructor<br />
Combines sound theoretical advanced financial accounting<br />
concepts to practical applications. Topics include the<br />
accounting for business combinations, foreign currency<br />
transactions and translations, partnerships and governmental<br />
entities.<br />
AC 490 Senior Seminar in Accounting (4 SH)<br />
Semester Offered: Spring<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): Senior Standing<br />
The capstone course is a senior level course designated to<br />
allow students to review, analyze and integrate knowledge<br />
and skills learned throughout the accounting/business curriculum.<br />
Student will analyze domestic and international<br />
accounting issues through case analysis and research.<br />
Students will prepare an approved academic project or<br />
paper that demonstrates mastery of their area of study<br />
and to assess their level of knowledge/skill of the stated<br />
outcomes of their degree.<br />
ARTS MANAGEMENT (AM)<br />
AM 300 Principles of Fine Arts Management (4 SH)<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permission.<br />
An analysis of the management of not-for-profit arts<br />
organizations, such as museums, performing groups,<br />
service organizations and government agencies. Other<br />
faculty and arts professionals will be brought in to discuss<br />
particular areas of arts administration. Course will be<br />
taught in seminar format.<br />
AM 310 Fine Arts Management Practicum I (1-4 SH)<br />
Pre-Requisite(s): Junior status or permission<br />
Students will participate in the design of and grant writing<br />
for a specific project, taking it from beginning stages of<br />
development, through project research into grant writing.<br />
Students must contract with appropriate faculty for 50<br />
hours of application work per academic credit. A maximum<br />
of four credits possible over junior and senior years.<br />
