Involuntary Medical Withdrawal<br />

When, in the judgment of the <strong>College</strong>, an individual’s behavior is disruptive to the educational and living environment.<br />

Parent/Guardian Notification<br />

When, in the judgment of the <strong>College</strong>, there is a threat to the student’s safety or the behavior/actions of the student<br />

is deemed dangerous or becomes a threat to the campus community.<br />

Presidential Interim Suspension<br />

Reserved for severe violations that directly impact the welfare of the campus community. This is used at the discretion<br />

of the <strong>College</strong> President or his designee.<br />

Removal from <strong>College</strong> Housing<br />

Generally used for multiple policy violations and severe policy violations. Further sanctions would lead to Suspension<br />

or Expulsion from the college.<br />

Restitution/Fine<br />

Student is responsible for paying any fines associated with policy violations (alcohol, drugs, etc) as well as paying to<br />

repair any damages caused by vandalism. These are posted directly to student accounts.<br />

Restriction of Privileges<br />

Student could lose the ability to host overnight guests, participate in extracurricular activities; attendance at <strong>College</strong><br />

events/activities etc.<br />

Suspension<br />

Generally used for a combination of a second and third-time offense of policy violations. A recommendation for<br />

suspension will be made by the Dean of Students (or senior hearing officer) to the appropriate Vice President and the<br />

President of the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Minimum Sanctions<br />

In order to promote consistency in the judicial process at <strong>Lake</strong> <strong>Erie</strong> <strong>College</strong>, this section specifies minimum sanctions for<br />

the individual code. A student may receive more than the minimum sanction depending on the nature of the incident<br />

and severity of the violation at any time. The Presidential Interim Suspension may be used as a minimum sanction<br />

for any of these violations if deemed necessary by the President of the <strong>College</strong> or his designee. For more information<br />

about an individual offense, please review the “Code of Conduct” section.<br />

Please consider the Reference Librarian your best resource for doing research, and don’t hesitate to ask for assistance<br />

when you need it. Make an appointment with the Reference Librarian for in-depth assistance on research projects or<br />

for individual training in using the library’s resources.<br />

The library’s website is tailored to meet student needs. It provides access to the online catalog, research databases,<br />

reference and interlibrary loan services, library hours and information, and provides many links to other subject-specific<br />

web sites. The site is updated continuously and should be your starting point for research.<br />

Interlibrary Loan<br />

It is best to search our library’s catalog first for the books you need, since you have immediate access to these items.<br />

Next, search OhioLINK’s online catalog, which includes books from college and university libraries throughout Ohio. You<br />

need only click the green “Request” button to order any available item to be sent to our library in a few days time. If<br />

you need an item not available thru OhioLINK, use the request forms on the library’s website (see Interlibrary Loan on<br />

the library’s home page). These items will take longer to receive; most arrive within 5-10 days.<br />

Collections<br />

The library’s book collection is designed to support your research and study needs. Our collection of print magazines,<br />

newspapers and journals will help you keep up with current events and learn about specific disciplines. There are also<br />

video and CD collections on the library’s lower level.<br />
