Emma Dowling holds a first degree in International Studies and Politics<br />

from the University <strong>of</strong> Birmingham and is currently studying for an MSc<br />

at the Centre for the Study <strong>of</strong> Global Ethics, University <strong>of</strong> Birmingham.<br />

Her main interests include the study <strong>of</strong> economic theory and ethics,<br />

dimensions <strong>of</strong> power and gender studies within a global context. She is<br />

also an active member <strong>of</strong> the social movement ATTAC (Association for<br />

the Taxation <strong>of</strong> Financial Transactions for the Aid <strong>of</strong> Citizens) within<br />

and beyond the UK.<br />

Victoria Firmo-Fontan is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Sabanci<br />

University, Turkey. She holds a PhD from the Centre for Peace and<br />

Development Studies at the University <strong>of</strong> Limerick, in the Republic <strong>of</strong><br />

Ireland. Positions held include a research associate position in the Centre<br />

for Behavioural Research at the American University <strong>of</strong> Beirut, Lebanon,<br />

and a Marie Curie research fellowship at the University <strong>of</strong> Deusto, Spain.<br />

She specializes in issues <strong>of</strong> armed resistance and human trafficking. She<br />

has held several diplomatic postings in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosov@.<br />

Ivan Manokha is a PhD student at the University <strong>of</strong> Sussex working on<br />

the discourse <strong>of</strong> human rights in the global <strong>political</strong> <strong>economy</strong>.<br />

Bruno Moens is executive director at Payoke, Antwerp, Belgium. He<br />

holds an MA in Criminology.<br />

Rachel Nizan holds an MA in Latin American Area Studies from the<br />

Institute <strong>of</strong> Latin American Studies in London. She spent a year working<br />

with street children in Honduras, doing both social work and research.<br />

Her main interests include children’s rights, human rights, development<br />

and trade.<br />

David Ould is deputy director <strong>of</strong> Anti-Slavery International. He has been<br />

closely involved with UK campaigning on issues <strong>of</strong> the commercial<br />

sexual exploitation <strong>of</strong> children and the use <strong>of</strong> bonded child labour in<br />

the hand-knotted carpet industries <strong>of</strong> South Asia. He helped to establish<br />

ECPAT UK and Rugmark UK to work on these issues and is on the boards<br />

<strong>of</strong> both groups. He is the representative for Anti-Slavery International<br />

on the Ethical Trading Initiative, a UK-based group that brings together<br />

companies, trade unions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
