<strong>The</strong>se principles would help us to go beyond present approaches and<br />

they would provide a perspective which would designate responsibility<br />

for contemporary forms <strong>of</strong> <strong>slavery</strong> no longer simply at the door <strong>of</strong> the<br />

immediate perpetrators, but more widely in the overall international<br />

system and its present inequality. <strong>The</strong>y need to form the basis for<br />

national policies as well as for global initiatives.
