Synthesis of 5-benzoyl-4-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one (VIIiii) from benzyolacetoneA mixture of benzoylacetone (0.00852 mole; 1.38 gm), 3-cholrobenzaldehyde (0.0071mole; 1 gm) and urea (0.0106 mole; 0.639 gm) in ethanol (10 ml) were reacted as perprocedure for the compound (VIIi) to get 5-benzoyl-4-(3-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-3,4-dihydro-pyrimidin-2(1H)-one (VIIiii).M.P. : 214-216 o C; Yield 67%.Mol. Formula : C 18 H 15 ClN 2 O 2 ; Mol. Wt. 326.78IR(KBr) cm -1 : 3273(γ NH ), 1712(γ CO ), 1674(γ CONH ), 1600(γ CH )1 H NMR (DMSO-d 6 )δppm : 1.72 (s, 3H, CH 3 ), 5.43 (d, 1H, H at 4, J = 3.04), 7.59 (br, s,1H, NH at 1), 7.17-7.50 (m, 9H, Ar-H), 9.06 (s, 1H, NH at 3).MS m/e : 326[M + ], 311, 307, 291, 215, 185.4. Synthesis of 5-benzoyl-4-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one (VIIiv) from benzoylacetone.A mixture of benzoylacetone (0.00852 mole; 1.38 gm), 2-cholrobenzaldehyde (0.0071mole; 1 gm) and urea (0.0106 mole; 0.639 gm) in ethanol (10 ml) were reacted as perprocedure for the compound (VIIi) to get 5-benzoyl-4-(2-chlorophenyl)-6-methyl-3,4-dihydro-pyrimidin-2(1H)-one (VIIiv).M.P. : 248-250 o C; Yield: 71%.Mol. Wt. 326.78IR(KBr) cm -1 : 3284(γ NH ), 2951(γ CH ), 1650(γ CONH )1 H NMR(DMSO-d 6 )δppm : 1.79 (s, 3H, CH 3 ), 5.87 (d, 1H, H at 4, J = 2.56), 7.02 (br,s, 1H, NH at 1), 7.19-7.50 (m, 9H, Ar-H), 9.04 (s, 1H, NHat 3).475
