The Division carries out multiyearwork programmes on sustainable developmentindica<strong>to</strong>rs, with interest in expanding<strong>the</strong> work on <strong>disaster</strong> <strong>reduction</strong> indica<strong>to</strong>rs.DSD provides substantive services <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>Economic and Social Council functionalcommission CSD. As such, it serves as <strong>the</strong>secretariat for <strong>the</strong> World Summit on SustainableDevelopment. CSD was created inDecember 1992 and has 53 members forterms <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> three years.
