The incidence rate was estimated at 6.2 per 1,000 children with nodisability compared to 4.3 per 1,000 children with a confirmed disability.Sexual abuse. <strong>Child</strong>ren with no disability had 1.7 times the risk <strong>of</strong> beingsexually abused than those with a disability (2.4 versus 1.4 children per 1,000).Categories <strong>of</strong> Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>Neglect</strong>Significant differences related to child’s disability status occurred in rates <strong>of</strong>two categories <strong>of</strong> the Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard neglect, physical neglect <strong>and</strong> emotionalneglect.Physical neglect. An estimated 15.5 per 1,000 children with no disabilityexperienced Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard physical neglect, whereas the rate was 9.6 per 1,000children with a confirmed disability. <strong>Child</strong>ren with no disability were more than 1.6times more likely to be physically neglected than children with a confirmed disability.Emotional neglect. <strong>Child</strong>ren with no disability were at significantly greaterrisk <strong>of</strong> Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard emotional neglect; they were 1.7 times more likely to beemotionally neglected than children with a confirmed disability. An estimated 15.6 per1,000 children with no disability experienced emotional neglect compared to 9.1 per1,000 children with a confirmed disability.Severity <strong>of</strong> Outcomes from Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard MaltreatmentSignificant differences related to the child’s disability status occurred in threelevels <strong>of</strong> outcomes from Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard maltreatment: serious harm, moderateharm, <strong>and</strong> endangerment.Serious harm. In contrast to their lower risk <strong>of</strong> experiencing differentcategories <strong>of</strong> Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard maltreatment, children with a confirmed disabilitywere at greater risk <strong>of</strong> suffering serious harm from Endangerment St<strong>and</strong>ard maltreatmentthan children with no disability. An estimated 9.1 per 1,000 children with a confirmeddisability were seriously harmed compared to 6.0 per 1,000 children with no disability.4-34
